Olympian Task
This article describes the challenges faced by railroad operators in planning for the 2012 Olympic Games in London. An estimated 9.6 million spectators and staff are expected during the 17 days of the Olympics and 12 days of the Paralympics. Most of these people will be transported to the far-flung sites by train. During the Olympics, a train will arrive at the main stadium in Stratford every 15 seconds, allowing up to 240,000 passengers an hour to reach the Olympic Park quickly and efficiently. One key to success will be constantly reviewing staffing to ensure adequate train crew coverage for the duration of the Games.
