Power Flow Control for Hybrid Electric Vehicles Using Trolley Power and On-Board Batteries
In this paper, the authors present a hybrid control algorithm for the trolley and lithium ion rechargeable battery for a hybrid electric railway vehicle. These vehicles, also known as electric multiple units (EMUs), can be driven either by using power from an overheard or third rail trolley current collection or from an onboard electrical energy storage device. With the proposed hybrid control algorithm, a regenerative brake using the developed hybrid control shows the performance necessary for the designed regenerative power.
