The Birth of European Biomechanics Fed by the Atlantic Umbilical Cord
This paper is the John Paul Stapp Memorial Lecture. The author shares a brief retrospective, gained through decades of personal biomechanical research and studies, on the development of biomechanics in Europe. The author discusses research foundations made possible by John Paul Stapp and other Americans, as well as research findings on occupant restraint from the Laboratoire d'Accidentologie et de Biomecanique in France.
