Soil treatment - pavement recycling
The scope of the TREMTI 2005 symposium, 24-26 October 2005, Paris, France is outlined: treatment of natural materials (soils) and natural by-products of mining or quarry operations; on-site recycling of materials; recycling of by-products from construction activities or deconstruction; and treatment products (limes, cements and hydraulic road-making binders. The symposium programme focused on the development of techniques in the USA and UK. The world status of soil treatment, recycling of pavements in place and the recycling by treatment in place or in a central plant is described. The main lessons leant from TREMTI 2005 are listed with reference to fundamental aspects, geology and climate, soil treatment (backfills and subgrades, base courses), in-situ recycling of pavements, materials recycling, technology, and codification.
