Asian Tigers

This paper examines the top performing airlines in the Asian-Pacific market. The performances of Singapore Airlines, SIA, Cathay Pacific, All Nippon Airways, Japan Airlines, Korean Air, and Thai Airways are discussed with reference to financial performance, network expansion, competition from new low-cost carriers, fuel costs, mergers and acquisitions, investments, and share of world traffic. The performance of Malaysia Airlines, ranked worst among airlines, is also discussed. Tables are presented of airline rankings, most-improved companies, and top-performing airline companies and top-performing freight companies.
