Modeling of a Series Hybrid Electric High-Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle
In this paper, the authors describe the simulation of the series hybrid electric high mobility multipurpose wheeled vehicle (HE-HMMWV), focusing on transient response and gradability. A multidomain model using the Ansoft Simplorer simulation software is used for simulating the electric motor, power electronics components, and a vehicle model. Focus of the simulation is on the vehicle’s transient response to desired speeds dictated by drive cycles, as well as its response to hill climbing of up to 60% grade.
