A Maintenance System for Stormwater Infrastructure

This article describes the development of a computer tool aimed at helping to manage maintenance operations of stormwater infrastructure. The infrastructure is located along two highways in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. The stormwater infrastructure maintenance management system is comprised of 2 items: (1) a graphical user interface, and (2) a relational database. The inventory of stormwater features is stored in a geographic information system (GIS). The paper describes the features of structure types and attributes of the features. Structure types consist of pipe or culvert, paved open channel, street inlet, junction box, manhole, culvert inlet, and culvert outlet. Attributes are also listed and described.
