Alberta Traffic Safety Guide to Accomodate Aging Drivers
The purpose of this Guide is to present a comprehensive list of traffic safety practices that benefit the aging driver. The practices suggested in this Guide have been developed to accommodate the visual, cognitive and motor changes that are incurred with the natural aging process. The implementation of the enhancements in this guide is left to the discretion of road agencies. Agencies can consider these enhancements at locations with a high proportion of older drivers or at all locations if they wish to accommodate older drivers as a general policy. This Guide is intended to act as a reference Guide, and should be used as a supplement for (and not in place of) existing standards.
