This report describes a new method of presenting results from the bump integrator, which is an established machine for measuring the riding quality of roads. The new system relies on a control unit with a digital display which presents the accumulated results from the bump integrator over a preset length of road. The unit was commissioned from Queen's University Belfast by the Department of Environment (Northern Ireland) and is currently being used by them. The report also describes a computer program which reads the results presented by the new unit, checks them for validity, and produces a graphical display of riding quality which can be used by the engineer to determine the maintenance requirements of roads under his control.(a) /TRRL/
