MAPPING OF SUPERFICIAL DEPOSITS FROM AIR PHOTOGRAPHS. A METHODOLOGICAL STUDY OF DIFFERENT PHOTOGRAPHIC MATERIALS

JORDARTSKARTERING MED FLYBILDSTEKNIK. EN METODUNDERSOKNING OLIKA BILDMATERIAL

For the mapping of superficial deposits by air photograph interpretation indirect indicators are normally used. The relative value of these indicators has been examined and the most useful are found to be land-form, topographical position and vegetation. The interpretation potential of different photographic materials has been tested, colour film is preferable to panchromatic film. Infrared colour film has pronounced advantages when compared with normal colour film. Mapping of superficial deposits from infrared colour air photographs integrated with field checks has given satisfactory results. Applied in this way air photograph techniques have definite advantages when compared with traditional field mapping. /TRRL/
