ACCELERATED TESTING OF CONCRETE - PREDICTION OR EXPECTATION?

Although there are no accelerated testing methods that permit the prediction of the strength of concrete at some later stage, this does not imply that methods aiming at achieving this objective should be unusable. Early information and indications concerning the expected strength retain their value. An accelerated testing method can be used for quality control of the production process and for estimating the 28-day strength of mixtures composed of available materials of which the relation between accelerating curing and the 28-day compressive strength are known as a result of other mixtures with these materials. These aspects are explained by comparing them with a testing method developed by the Ready Mixed Concrete Ltd Company in England. /TRRL/
