STRENGTH AND SERVICEABILITY CONSIDERATIONS IN THE ARRANGEMENT OF THE REINFORCEMENT IN CONCRETE SKEW SLAB BRIDGES

The results are summarised of an investigation into the ultimate and service load behaviour of simply supported reinforced concrete skew slab bridges with the reinforcement proportioned in accordance with the yield-line theory and factored elastic moment field collapse methods of design. Throughout the investigation, consideration has been given to the efficiency of various reinforcement arrangements from both the strength and serviceability viewpoints. Recommendations are made as to the most efficient reinforcement arrangements for slabs designed in accordance with the two design methods referred to above.(a) /TRRL/
