This article is a review by the author of his report on "Bridges in the United Kingdom" to be presented at the 8th FIP (Federation Internationale de la Precontainte) Conference 1978. After a review of current trends in design and construction of bridges in the UK and of progress made during the past 4 years, a description illustrated with photographs (giving brief construction details, contractors involved , etc) is given for each of the following: Greta Bridge, Keswick; Berry Lane Viaduct, Chorleywood; Lyne Bridge, Surrey; Runnymede Bridge over the Thames; Itchen Bridge, Southampton; East Cliff Viaduct, Dover; Trent Bridge, Humberside, Humber Bridge, Humberside. Notes are also included on the following overseas bridges: Pehang River bridges, Malaysia; 17th July Bridge, Baghdad. /TRRL/
