ENERGY SAVINGS IN INDUSTRIAL MOTORING

SU RISPARMI ENERGETICI NELL'AUTOMOBILISMO INDUSTRIALI

This article discusses reductions in fuel consumption with regard to heavy vehicles (buses, articulated vehicles, vans and lorries). In addition to a review of technical improvements to engines and engine components, an analysis is presented of the effects on fuel consumption of power-weight ratio, aerodynamic design, vehicle maintenance, and tyre characteristics and condition. It is suggested that driver training for motorists as well as heavy vehicle drivers, should include considerations of fuel economy. /TRRL/
