A method for the analysis of an inelastic column composed of one or more materials and with rotational and directional end restraints about either or both axes is described. The column can be loaded with both axial load and biaxial end moments. The analysis is based on forward integration of the governing non-linear differential equations about each axis with subsequent correction of end misclosures by the Newton-Raphson technique. The analysis has been programmed for a computer and tested against published results for steel columns and concrete-encased steel columns and is shown to give good agreement. The analysis has also been used to predict experimental results from tests on eight restrained composite columns and has given good agreement. /Author/TRRL/
