INFLUENCE OF EARLY SETTING UPON THE COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH OF LEAN CONCRETE

Research was carried out in order to obtain information on temperature influence upon the compressive strength during setting of lean concrete test cubes. This material is used in foundations and road constructions in Belgium. In comparison to normal concrete, lean concrete has a low cement content. For quality control purposes concerning such foundations, a test method is required as defined in type specification 108. The definition of this test, however, does not contain any indications as to the duration of setting and the temperature at which this is to be carried out. Hence the reason for investigating the correlations between these factors in greater detail. /TRRL/
