Improvements in Design Scour Depth Prediction
Local sediment scour experiments were performed and the results analyzed and compared with predictions. It was determined that for partially buried pile caps the effect of the column on the scour produced by the pile cap was significant and had to be included in the predictive equations for scour at complex piers. Modification to the predictive equations were made and are included in this report.
