Bowstring Arch Bridges of Iowa
This booklet describes and illustrates the graceful bowstring bridges that are found in Iowa. Today, these bridges are felt to be historically significant, as they played a major role in Iowa transportation systems many ears ago. A number of Iowa counties have started on the road to preserving these bridges. Though hundreds of the bridges existed at one time, today there are only twenty bowstring arch bridges left in Iowa. This booklet offers a history of the bridges, and tells the stories of all of the people who constructed the them.
