RAIL CHARGING SYSTEM AND CONTROLLING BASED RAIL STRATEGIC PLANNING IN HUNGARY

The Balanced Scorecard (BSc) method is a tool providing a clear and consistent framework for helping to concretize strategic goals by linking them to operative measures and controlling their practical adaptation. This paper examines what the actual tasks and problems are in the field of strategic management of rail companies, and seeks ways of solving problems in strategic planning by using a strategic information system based on BSc methodology. The paper recognizes the following benefits of BSc methodology for rail transport planning: BSc methods make possible to establish logical models for information systems that are capable of supporting decision making; the BSc based information system can be fit to current operational data processing systems; available business intelligence tools, such as software with dedicated functionability, can help implement BSc business models in practice.
