A Transportation Performance Measurement System with a Mississippi Case Study

This study proposes a set of user-oriented, scalable, systematic performance measures for intermodal transportation. The performance measures are based on the needs of transportation users and U.S. transportation goals. These measures can be used to compare intermodal design alternatives or to evaluate existing transportation systems with any size and any mode. A case study analyzing the highway system in Mississippi is used to demonstrate how to collect data and how to calculate the proposed performance measures.
