Reduce Friction, Boost Savings
This article provides perspectives on different rail lubricants in terms of their various strengths and products. Lubrication, the article explains, is useful as it improves train handling, fuel economy, wheel and rail service life, and reducing noise pollution. One of the systems described has complex telemetry for accurate monitoring of grease levels, system status, and lubricant distribution. The entire system can be controlled remotely and is web browser-based. The article also describes efforts by companies who are conducting research directed at developing better grease compounds and distribution methods.
