SYSTEMS ANALYSIS OF ELECTRIC ROAD TRANSPORT

SYSTEMANALYSE DES ELEKTRISCHEN STRASSENVERKEHRS

An investigation has been carried out into the most important aspects which are significant for a widespread introduction of electric vehicles. These include fundamental energy-economic considerations which prove the advantageous use of electricity for road transport, certainly with the reduction by specific means of the quantity of electricity required as, for example, the smallest possible connection capacity for the recharging of the vehicle. These economic requirements reduce the daily radius of action to 100 or 150 km, just the same as the storage capacity of the batteries. It is forecast that in about 10 years there will be a wide introduction of electric vehicles; in the year 2000 the proportion of these will have reached 30%. /TRRL/
