Rail Disasters 2005: The Impact of Rail Transit Ridership: An Update to Great Rail Disasters

This paper examines rail transit in a number of cities in the United States, compares it with bus travel and driving, and rates each rail transit program with a letter grade. It discusses rail transit ridership and the factors which might influence it in one direction or another. Some factors discussed which might influence rail transit ridership include the high cost of rail transit construction, transit subsidies and bus-only transit.
