Calibration of Vilnius Public Transport Model

In this paper, the authors describe the calibration of a public transportation model for Vilnius, Lithuania. Transportation modeling is presented as the only economical and reliable way for carrying out a forward assessment of the impact of technological innovations to be applied to the overall system. Using data from the morning rush hour and the VISUM software package, the Vilnius public transportation network was calibrated using three possible methods the transport system-based, headway based, and timetable based. After analysis of the coefficients derived from the modeling, it was concluded that further modeling of the Vilnius public transportation network should be based on the timetable-based model.
