THE NEW BRIDGE OVER THE ZAZA RIVER

EL NUEVO PUENTE SOBRE EL RIO ZAZA

The technical characteristics of the bridge (140 M long, 35 M wide, and 18 M high) are described. It was designed with differential foundations, four-column frames, and has a deck composed of two superpositioned slabs, one of which is prefabricated. The static calculation of horizontal forces was conceived as a hyperstatic system for braking forces, and as a frame for wind force. Because of a shortage of time a whole length half-section was constructed and the foundations and joints prepared for later construction. Working methods and equipment are described. /TRRL/
