The Transit Funding Handbook

This handbook serves as a guide to how the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) administers funding for transit projects. It begins with an overview of the planning and programming components involved in funding projects. Included in the programming section is a description of the different documents that may be required. These include: Regional Transportation Improvement Program (RTIP), State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP), Federal Transportation Improvement Program (FTIP), and Traffic Congestion Relief Program (TCRP). The handbook then describes procedures involved in funding requests, agreement execution, and reimbursement. It concludes with discussions on project monitoring and project completion.
