Helmet Use Choice Among Texas Motorcyclists
The Center for Transportation Safety at the Texas Transportation Institute conducted this survey of motorcyclists for the Texas Department of Transportation to ascertain reasons for helmet and non-helmet use so that more effective public information programs could be put in place to inform motorcyclists about the benefits of helmet use. The survey also elicited information about rider experience, training, and licensure, as well as demographic information about the survey respondents. This paper presents the results from a survey of 1,119 motorcyclists conducted in July 2005.
