EFFECTS OF LIMITATIONS IN THE USE OF CARS IN TOWNS ON THE INDUSTRY AND EMPLOYMENT

EFFETS SUR L'INDUSTRIE ET SUR L'EMPLOI DE LA LIMITATION DE L'USAGE DE 'LAUTOMOBILE DANS LES VILLES

Increased growth in vehicle ownership leads to a reorganization of transport policies, introducing private traffic restraint in urban areas and improvements in public transport. This article studies the possible effects of such measures in the future, and in France on the automobile industry and employment. These effects could influence the demand for new private cars thus bringing changes to the market of public transport vehicles, and to the car manufacturing industry. The latter usually results in modifications in the level of employment. /TRRL/
