CONCRETE ROAD CONSTRUCTION PRACTICE IN 1976

PRAXIS DES BETONDECKENBAUES IM JAHRE 1976

During the past twenty years there have been no spectacular innovations in the construction of concrete carriageways but only systematic improvements achieved by trial and practice in the normal construction process, such as the reduction of the transverse joint interval to 5 metres, abandonment of fabric reinforcement, abandonment of space joints, cuts of 2.5 mm transverse joints which remain without mortar and others. In the equipment sector there were only minor detailed improvements of the construction machines after the development of the 30 degree-levelling finisher. The significance of numerous sizes of mixing plants is stressed. The relevant specifications will be revised in the light of the latest knowledge. /TRRL/
