This is translation no LCPC 76 T 6 from Russian into French. Practical recommendations are presented for the evaluation of the degree of compaction of asphaltic concrete surfacings by the non-destructive shock wave method (moc). The control method for use in the laboratory or on site, measures the degree of compaction of asphaltic concrete and is based on the close correlation between the acoustic parameters of asphaltic concrete (shock wave velocity) and its properties. A laboratory apparatus is described for the control of strength and deformation of asphaltic concrete (udar - 3M apparatus); this device enables the state of compaction of asphaltic concrete with a precision of 0.3%, the sound velocity being 0.1% and the duration of shock wave propagation within 0.1 micro second approximately. The method ensures the non-destructive control of compaction both in the laboratory and on site without having to take samples. /TRRL/
