CONTROLLING THE MENACE OF AIRPORT BIRDS IN BRITAIN

This article describes some of the control measures currently being used at airports in Britain, most notably BABS (bioacoustic broadcasting system) which entails first causing the birds to take off by playing recordings of the species in question and then firing flares to scare them away from the runway. Other methods include eliminating possible sources of food from areas adjacent to the runway.
