VIDEO-LOGGED, COMPUTERIZED TRAFFIC SIGN INVENTORY

A method for quickly identifying and locating signs described uses video logging and computerized inventory. The video logging process consisted of video taping all 3,800 miles of streets in the city's network. This involved over 7,600 miles of video taping, since both sides of all streets were taped as well as the medians of divided streets. The average coverage was 10 miles per 30 minutes of video tape reel. System description and specifications are presented.
