CONSIDERATIONS IN THE NAVAL ARCHITECTURE OF SALVAGE SHIPS

As the mission of the ship becomes more specialized, a thorough understanding of the mission becomes more necessary to successful design of the ship. Through this understanding comes an appraciation of the relative importance of design parameters. In this paper a rough preliminary design for a U.S. Navy Salvage Ship is developed as an example of how a specialized mission influences design.
