VIBRO-PILING: THE CAST-IN-PLACE SYSTEM

The article describes the bsp vibro system of cast-in-place concrete piling which offers a wide range of pile sizes and lengths. The system is suitable for a range of subsoil conditions with working loads ranging from 400-1400 kn. Piles of the required bearing capacity can be formed to a specified diameter and necessary founding depth. The system is also able to form piles up to 42 M long without using jointed tubes. Forming piles to correct lengths avoids adjusting the length of pre-formed piles after driving. The vibro system is the only one which uses the driving hammer to assist extraction of the temporary tube. The concrete normally used has a design strength of 24 n/sq mm with a 115 mm slump. The piling rigs available are described in four general categories: walking plants; rolling and sliding plants; excavator plants and leader plants. /TRRL/
