THE USE OF CONCRETE ADDITIVES IN READY-MIXED CONCRETE BATCHING PLANTS

EINSATZ VON BETONZUSATZMITTELN IN TRANSPORTBETONWERKEN

Those using ready-mixed concrete should on no account request the batching plant to use additives even in prescribed quantities. The plant can only guarantee the desired results from quality control tests will be achieved before construction commences if the order states the required properties of the concrete. In this way the responsibilities of concrete producer and placer remain clearly divided. The effect of an additive varies partly due to its age since manufacture and partly due to the individual types of cement and cement deliveries. The results of comprehensive test programmes which are shown diagrammatically illustrate this. The numerous undesirable side effects of additives are discussed in detail. /TRRL/
