COLLAPSE OF CONTAINER STOW LEADS TO CLAIM FOR CARGO DAMAGE

The container stow collapsed, causing loss and damage to the cargo. Cargo claimants maintained that loss was due to unseaworthiness of container, and that shipowner had failed to exercise due diligence to make vessel seaworthy. The court ruled that the shipowner was liable to cargo claimants on both counts. Order from NSFI as No. 14796.
