Subsidiaries of El Paso LNG Co. have proposed and drawn up plans for a 20-yr U. S. LNG import project for importation of about 1 billion scfd of natural gas from Algeria's Hassi R'Mel field. With timely approvals, the first LNG would arrive in the United States by early 1983. The proposed import terminal would be located on the Texas Gulf Coast on Matagorda Bay. Details are given on the Algeria II project's LNG carrier fleet, terminal and pipeline facilities.
