THE LONGEVITY OF FREIGHT CAR TRUCK SPRINGS

DOLGOVECHNOST' TELEZHECHNYKH PRUZHIN GRUZOVYKH VAGONOV

The results are given of studies of the life of new and used freight car truck springs. A discussion is given of the mechanism for buildup of fatigue damage to springs associated with the effect of cyclic loads in the process of use. A demonstration is given of the effectiveness of intermediate shot peening to increase the life resource of springs.
