PROPOSED METHOD FOR EVALUATING CONCRETE STRENGTH AT THE GIVEN POINT IN A STRUCTURE BY MEANS OF TESTS

PROPUESTA DE METODOLOGIA PARA LA ESTIMACION DE LA RESISTENCIA DEL HORMIGON EN UN PUNTO DE UNA ESTRUCTURA A TRAVES DE ENSOYOS DE INFORMACION

The destructive testing of specimens taken by coring, which is currently the only test available for obtaining data regarding the strength properties of a concrete structure, requires that a certain strength must be assigned to those zones of the structure near or further away from the point of specimen extraction. The extrapolation of the results is analysed with varying precision, depending on what is known of the construction of the structure. The present study deals with the application of information techniques to the quantitative evaluation of these relationships and to the regrouping of points where the concrete strength is being evaluated. It is assumed that the zone of the structure to be assessed presents a homogeneous nature as far as the general process of concreting is concerned; a relation is established between pairs of points, by means of a location component and a strength component; the first evaluates the distance between them and the second the strength comparison. /TRRL/
