A vision of integration for Edinburgh

In 2003, tie limited undertook a public consultation on the introduction of a light rapid transit system in Edinburgh, UK. This focused on Tram Line One (North Edinburgh) and Tram Line Two (West Edinburgh). The company has consulted with objectors such as Forth Ports, Historic Scotland, Scottish Natural Heritage, BAA and Network Rail, and many objections have been withdrawn. The procurement and delivery of the tram scheme has been designed to ensure timing and cost are tightly managed. The effects of the tram proposals on the environment are being investigated by tie limited. A noise and vibration policy has been developed. Scott Wilson Railways has been appointed to provide technical support services. Parsons Brinckerhoff has been appointed to provide system design services. tie is working on an agreement to form a single framework contract for the movement of utilities from the tram tracks. Bills relating to the introduction of the tram service are being considered by the Scottish parliament. TRANSDEV, the tram operator, is working with tie on the planning and delivery of the tram network.
