APPLICATION OF PHOTOGRAMMETRY IN THE MODELLING OF MACHINERY SPACES AND PIPING

By means of photogrammetry and associated processes the special information contained in a model of the machinery spaces with piping runs represented by wires can be processed into detailed full-scale information and documentation for piping layout and fabrication. A variety of photogrammetric equipment and electronic hardware for processing the three-dimensional information derived from the model already exists, and it is considered that when the photogrammetric technique is fully integrated it will result in better layout and lower costs of engine-room piping. A system which is said to approach these desired goals is the East German system known as Koteg. This is briefly described, together with the general principles of photogrammetry. Order from BSRA as No. 49,063.
