CORROSION AT SEA OF REINFORCED AND PRESTRESSED CONCRETE STRUCTURES

CORROSION A LA MER DE STRUCTURES EN BETON ARME ET PRECONTRAINT.

A large-scale in situ experimentation to test the behavior of reinforced and prestressed concrete structures subjected to the action of seawater was undertaken. After fourteen years of experimentation a certain number of observations of interest for the knowledge of the behavior of reinforced concrete structures at sea have been accumulated, chiefly on the Mediterranean site. The results of this research which has brought out two essential factors governing the phenomena: the protective covering of the reinforcements and the cement batching are presented.
