The paper describes the details of some five road bridges in Maharashtra which were required to be repaired or rectified on account of various reasons. The bridge across Godavari River at Toka was required to be strengthened by way of providing bed protection to prevent scour around wells, grouting superstructure, replacement of some bearings, etc. The superstructure of Ram and Bhogawati bridges is raised by lifting the existing decking by about 3-4 metre and strengthening the substructure since the present levels of the existing bridges would come under submergence of a dam on the downstream. For Undhol bridge, the centering of the superstructure after casting of the beams without the slab had been removed before monsoon and, therefore, this grid of beams was pushed up by jacks to relieve the excessive locked up dead load stresses before concreting of this slab on the top. In Katepurna Bridge, the prestressed concrete girder which had developed a through crack during stressing was repaired by cutting the section of affected concrete, reconcreting that portion and restressing cables. /TRRL/
