Tests carried out over the last 20 years throughout the world have shown that hot galvanization of the reinforcement ensures an increase in the life of reinforced concrete structures. Part 1 of the article considers conditions governing the corrosion of the reinforcement: carbonation of concrete, presence of calcium chloride (admixture against frost), sodium chloride (de-icing salts, marine environment, infiltration of brackish water), and construction methods. /TRRL/
