REFUSE INCINERATION SLAG IN ROAD CONSTRUCTION

AFVALVERBRANDINGSSLAK IN DE WEGENBOUW

The production and composition of refuse incineration slag and the sales potential in the Netherlands are discussed. The results obtained from laboratory tests for particle size distribution, crushing value, compactability and density of refuse incineration slag and for the Marshall properties of bitumen bound slag and the compressive strength of cement bound slag are mentioned. The possibility of application of the slag to bound or unbound bases and to surfacings is discussed. Results obtained from an experimental section of pavement constructed with two types of slag are described. Conclusions are drawn and recommendations for the use of the slag are made. /TRRL/
