TRIPLEX TEN TWENTY - A LAMINATED GLASS WINDSCREEN WITH IMPROVED PROTECTION AGAINST CUTS

TRIPLEX TEN TWENTY - EINE VERBUNDGLAS-WINDSCHUTZSCHEIBE MIT VERBESSERTER SCHUTZWIRKUNG GEGEN SCHNITTVERLETZUNGEN

A description is given of a new windscreen which reduces the danger of injuries from cuts without increasing the danger of brain injuries. The authors are of the opinion that the new windscreen behaves perfectly in every respect with reference to the above criteria. The cut injury index is decreased by two logarithmic units, which corresponds to a decrease of 99 percent of total cut injuries which occur in skull impact and dummy tests. The new windscreen has the same particularly good resistance to impact by stones and occupant restraining properties as conventional laminated glass windscreens. The method of manufacturing the ten-twenty windscreen guarantees perfect optical efficiency and long life which are neither affected by extremes in climate nor by road conditions. The robust construction guarantees very small defects in incorporation and use, and because of the use of thinner glass there is a saving in weight of 8-22 percent over conventional laminated windscreens. /TRRL/
