DAMAGE TO CAR SAFETY BELTS BY USE AND IMPACT

BESCHAEDIGUNG VON AUTOSCHERHEITSGURTEN DURCH GEBRAUCH UND SCHOCK

Information is given on the time when safety belts in vehicles need to be changed. Dynamic and static tests have shown that safety belts which have been loaded as the result of an accident or have been fitted for a long period and frequently used do not necessarily have to be replaced. However, they do need replacing when (1) there is visible damage to the belt, the lock or the mountings; (2) when invisible damage impairs the perfect functioning of the belts; (3) when the vehicle, after a collision, exhibits large scale damage to the frontal area. /TRRL/
