Alliance road safety risk management

To assist Regional Road Group (RRG) members with the identification of high priority sites with road and bridge safety issues, the Roads Alliance, in collaboration with ARRB, has developed a Road Network Safety Assessment (RNSA) tool. The aim of the RNSA methodology is to provide RRG members with a sound basis to pro-actively identify road safety issues across their network, and ultimately develop a well prioritised works program to address the concerns identified. The process serves two main purposes: assist the RRG member to ensure investment is directed in a way that saves the maximum number of lives, and maximises the reduction in injury and property damage crashes, and assist the RRG member in meeting its duty of care in relation to legal responsibilities. The individual treatments are then analysed using the ARRB Road Safety Risk Manager to prioritise all potential treatments across the Councilor RRG to ensure the highest value projects are completed first.
