The workshop was staged by NAASRA and the Australian Road Research Board to discuss methods of characterising stabilised materials and consider their performance in pavement design. It was held in conjunction with the revision of the NAASRA guide to stabilisation in roadworks, preliminary draft of which forms part of the papers. Papers emphasise practical aspects of reasons for stabilisation, design criteria which are compatible with those reasons, appropriate methods of testing, and construction techniques. Mechanical stabilisation, lime and cement stabilisation and bituminous stabilised base are all discussed, with some case histories. /TRRL/
