LIGHTWEIGHT AGGREGATE CONCRETE CONTAINING CELLULAR GLASS

LES BETONS DE GRANULATS LEGERS A BASE DE VERRE CELLULAIRE

A new aggregate has appeared on the market; it consists for the greater part of ordinary glass and takes the form of roughly spherical particles, 3 to 25 mm in diameter, that have a cellular structure with usually closed pores. Recycled glass is the main raw material used. This new aggregate has specific characteristics: low bulk density, high surface hardness and resistance to alkalis contained in cement. Data are given on the manufacture of these expanded cellular glass aggregates, their properties, and uses in concrete. /TRRL/
